Install SlideBlocks once for supported local coding agents, search the public Catalog, and retrieve exact published Artifact versions without an account.

Installation details

Review the local requirements, managed locations, and quick verification for the installed client.

  • Node.js 22.12 or newer.
  • curl and unzip.
  • Either shasum or sha256sum for SHA-256 verification.

One managed copy, many Agents

New installs keep one verified package under $HOME/.agents/skills/slideblocks. Supported hosts already present on this computer receive safe, managed discovery links; an existing managed SlideBlocks installation stays at its recorded location.

One command detects supported local Agents—including Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, Roo, Trae, Windsurf, CodeBuddy, and WorkBuddy—and connects them to the same verified Skill.

Client command

The installer places the launcher at $HOME/.local/bin/slideblocks. Add that directory to PATH if your shell cannot find it.

After installation, confirm that the launcher is available and reports its client version.

Install and retrieve an Artifact directly

The Skill reads the same public Catalog as the website. Published Prompts and available source packages work immediately; account connection is optional.

  1. Search and inspect the public Catalog

    Search without an account, then inspect one result to confirm its current version and content hash before retrieval.

  2. Get one exact Artifact

    Save the exact Prompt and, when available, its matching source ZIP. The client establishes its private anonymous delivery context automatically.

  3. Optionally bind delivery to an account

    Use device authorization only when you want published Artifact delivery tied to a revocable account Session. It does not broaden the current published Catalog or enable Creator, submission, private, unlisted, or administrative CLI access.

Anonymous by default, account connection optional

On first retrieval, the API issues an opaque signed anonymous context and the client retries automatically. The context stays in ~/.config/slideblocks/config.json with file mode 0600; it contains no Prompt or source bytes.

  • Published Prompt and source delivery does not require an account.
  • Changing the configured site or API clears the anonymous context and any account token.
  • Optional device authorization creates a revocable account Session for the same published-Artifact delivery path.

Control exact Artifact output

Artifact ID, version, content hash, and Prompt variant remain one coordinate. Choose explicit private output files when the result will be used by an agent.

  1. Prompt and source files

    --prompt writes the unlocked Prompt to a named file. --source downloads the matching source ZIP, checks its byte length and SHA-256, and saves it with mode 0600.

  2. Historical versions

    A historical request must include both its semantic version and exact SHA-256 content hash. The client rejects either coordinate on its own.

  3. Existing output files

    The client refuses to replace a Prompt or source file by default. Add --force only when you have explicitly chosen that named file for replacement.

  4. Machine-readable output is private

    --json includes the unlocked Prompt by design. Keep it in a private process and never paste or upload the output to shared logs.

Manage the installed Skill

  1. Check

    See the installed Skill version, API origin, optional account connection, and client compatibility.

  2. Upgrade

    Fetch the current signed package and verify it before the installed directory is replaced. Clients on 0.1.x must update once before anonymous published delivery.

  3. Disconnect

    logout revokes an optional remote Session before removing its local token. Anonymous published-Artifact retrieval remains available. logout --local removes only the local account token when offline.

  4. Uninstall

    Revoke the current device Session when one exists, remove the installed Skill and local client configuration, and leave your presentation projects unchanged.

Handle delivery errors

Use the error code as the next action; do not treat a missing source bundle as a transient download failure.

Run the same exact Artifact request without --source and use its Prompt. Choose another published Artifact only if editable source is required; repeated download retries will not create a bundle.

CLIENT_UPGRADE_REQUIREDThe installed client is no longer compatible

Update the Skill, verify the new client version, then repeat the original exact Artifact request.

Package contents and permissions

The distributable contains the stable workflow, public rules, validator, and delivery client. It is not a copy of the private repository.

  • Published Catalog, prompt, and source delivery through the Skill do not require an account.
  • Connecting an account is optional and changes only the delivery subject and source capability; it does not broaden the current published Artifact set.
  • The package contains no private prompts, source bundles, account secrets, or internal paths.
What does the installer do?

You do not need to download a separate checksum or shell script. The one-command installer completes these checks before it changes any Skill location.

  • Downloads the official Skill ZIP from the same SlideBlocks site shown in the command.
  • Verifies the ZIP against its SHA-256 and stops before installation if it does not match.
  • Keeps one managed Skill copy, connects detected Agent hosts, and rolls back if activation fails.
